Based in Melbourne, Eamon Wyss is a fine art drone photographer whose lens has captured the breathtaking salt lakes of Victoria. With a lifelong passion for visual storytelling, Eamon has found his truest form of expression in aerial photography.
Each of his images depicts salt lakes in their natural state, without manipulation of colour or form. Eamon carefully composes his frames from above, drawing out the versatile textures and colours of Victoria’s lakes - images that look more like abstract paintings than traditional landscapes.
Having held successful solo exhibitions across Victoria, and having a strong demand for his canvas prints here at Skymirror, Eamon is now expanding the way audiences can experience his art with silk.
Wearable Art: From Salt to Silk
Blurring the line between fine art and fashion, Eamon’s latest venture transforms his aerial compositions into luxurious silk scarves. Made from 100% Silk Chiffon and measuring 200 x 110cm, each scarf is designed to turn the experience of Eamon’s art into something you can wear.
The scarf collection brings three striking artworks to life:
Feathers: Captured during Lake Tyrrell’s dry summer months, this photograph reveals a feathered form nestled in the blue shadows of dusk. Like a creature formed by wind and water, it’s a testament to the poetic, visual language of the lake.
Manangatang: A symphony of golden tones and natural texture from Lake Lulla, near Manangatang in Victoria’s Mallee region. Faint footprints can be seen on the lake’s surface, hinting at presence and passage. From the sky, the untouched lake becomes a canvas painted by nature.
Songline: At the water’s edge of Cockajemmy Salt Lake, a vivid red ‘line’ of pigmentation dances along the bank, shaped like a sine wave from a sound or a ‘song’. This piece shows the ‘Songline’ with its contemporary dreaming story playing out above, where landscape and story are intertwined.
With each scarf, Eamon offers a portal into the stories that nature whispers when viewed from the air. These pieces are more than accessories, they are wearable stories.
Whether you hang them on your wall or wrap them around you, Eamon’s silk scarves are an invitation to explore the ephemeral beauty of Australia’s salt lakes.
