On September 17th, eight passionate photographers joined Gill and Ian Fry for an unforgettable photography workshop at Lake Tyrrell, and the conditions couldn’t have been more perfect.

They witnessed stunning sunsets, mirrored in the glassy water, with the lake’s famous pink hues glowing beautifully. Intricate salt crystal patterns sparkled in the light, while a calm and gentle sunrise painted the horizon in soft pastel tones.
Nighttime brought even more magic; the Milky Way arched gracefully across the sky above the iconic old bus, which the group carefully light-painted for a dramatic shot. Just when it seemed the experience couldn’t get any better, an Aurora Australis made a surprise appearance! Later, the photographers experimented with creative light painting portraits featuring their wonderful model, Thao.
Each participant left with images worthy of hanging on the wall, and plenty of inspiration for future shoots.

Three lucky photographers also took to the skies with Murray Darling Scenic Flights, capturing breathtaking aerial views of Lake Tyrrell.
For anyone planning a visit, Gill has created The Photographer’s Guide to Lake Tyrrell, available at www.gillfryphotography.com.au.
